Are You Positioned for Success?
Do you know where you’re going? Do you have a game plan mapped out or are you just winging it?
As I discussed in this blog post, you need to be prepared for takeoff. You may feel like you’re ready but you’re missing some key elements. You can’t be scattered all over the place. You need to be in position.
When things aren’t aligned
There may be instances when things didn’t take off as you had hoped. You may not know why but you know that, for some reason, things just aren’t clicking. This could be because:
1) It’s the wrong thing.
2) It’s the wrong audience.
3) It’s the wrong price.
4) It’s the wrong time.
This is when you have to get really quiet and listen. God may provide an explanation or further instructions. This applies to personal goals as well. If you’re an entrepreneur or a creative, you may need to listen to your followers, fans, or clients. They may need or want something completely different.
You could survey people on your newsletter list using an online survey tool, do a poll on Facebook or Instagram, or just interview people individually. These could be prior clients or future prospects.
Right place, right time
If you’re a football fan, you know that if the players aren’t in position, they won’t be able to catch the throw that the quarterback intended to make. In music, and in life, this is also true.
Opportunities may find you simply because you were in the right place at the right time. You may sit next to the right person at an event, fill in as a replacement drummer, appear on the right podcast, or just appear in someone’s feed just when they were looking for what you have to offer. All of these have actually happened to me.
If you’re not prepared and in position, however, none of this will happen. I discuss this more in depth in my recent interview on the Christian CEO Podcast, including a recent mention on a very well-known speaker’s podcast. This empowering episode can be found here.
