Beats and Blessings
Are you feeling stressed? Or blessed? If you’re feeling stressed, it might be time to take a break, tap out some beats, and count your blessings!
Yes, as a drum therapist, I often recommend this prescription whether you have a drum or not. You can tap on your legs, your desk, a book, or whatever you have handy. Here’s how you start:
- Take some deep breaths. Try not to think about your to-do list or whatever is stressing you out. Just be in the moment.
- Tap out some beats. I like to start with a slow tempo and speed up but whatever works for you.
- Count your blessings. Try to focus on the positive things in your life. Even small blessings count!
If you don’t want to drum – go outside! I often take walks to clear the clutter in my brain. Focusing on nature and God’s creation soothes my soul and takes my mind off things.
Remember to take some time off to give yourself a chance to restore and regroup. If you ignore the signs of stress, it will catch up to you. Even if it’s just an hour or a day, make sure you take a break and practice an attitude of gratitude. It can really shift your mood!
Here’s a quick Thanksgiving greeting for you!
Blessings to you this Thanksgiving and always!
