Change Doesn’t Have to be Scary
How well do you handle change? In my experience, you have three options:
1) Fight it.
2) Face it.
3) Embrace it.
Following a different path
Sometimes, you know you need to make a change but you put it off. It could be because of uncertainty, procrastination, or fear. It’s hard to trade the familiar for the unknown. This could apply to your job, career, a move, or a relationship.
As someone who has experienced multiple layoffs, started and closed several businesses, and moved more times than I can count, I am no stranger to change. And let’s not forget the accident that totally threw things off course.
Sometimes, you didn’t choose the change in circumstances. Change happened. Other times, you just know that you have to make a change. You have to learn to let go. Because it’s time.
Moving onto the Next Stage
If something is not working out or no longer bringing you joy, you may just need to let it go. I just taught my last drum lesson recently. Teaching kids and adults how to play the full drum set was a small part of my business. But writing up the lessons and the music was taking up way too much of my time. I decided I need to stick with using therapeutic drumming for health and wellness.
I’m also dropping classes that aren’t bringing me joy and making some changes to others. I’m keep the faith and trusting that, by letting things go, better things will come in their place. Sometimes you need to let go of the good because God has something great in store.
