Drumming for Joy
Have you lost your joy? Maybe it’s your job or your business that has worn you out. Maybe it’s the pandemic. Did you know that drumming can bring your joy back?
As you may have guessed, I love drumming with people! Loading loads of drums and my speaker in and out of my house and the different venues? Not so much. As a drummer and a solopreneur, one thing I know is this: Working solo can really wear you out.
So, what do you do when you feel burned out? How do you find your joy?
Find what lights you up inside!
The pandemic has caused many of us to pause and reflect and ask “What’s really important?”
I would recommend taking a step back or even some time off. Then, ask yourself the following:
- Is what you’re doing bringing you joy?
- Is it bringing others joy?
- What needs to change?
When I teach people how to drum, I always tell them that our goal isn’t to go on tour with Santana or Bruno Mars (although that would be cool!). It’s to show them not only how to play but to enjoy the freedom and fun that drumming provides.
Here’s an encouraging video I did a while back. Feel free to drum along with me!
So, dig deep: What brings you joy? Drop a comment below and let me know! Also, are you doing that thing? If not, why not?
Know that you don’t have to do it perfectly. If you love it, then by all means do it!! Don’t overthink things! Just start! If you need a jump start, why not consider this upcoming virtual program?
