Is Your Rhythm Off?
Does your life or your drumming feel a bit off? It might be time to take a step back and take a deeper look to see what’s really going on.
I’ve worked with enough kids and adults as a coach, mentor, and drum therapist to know that things aren’t always what they seem. There is usually an underlying cause that may not seem obvious.
For example, in this 1-minute video, I explain something I discovered that some of my younger drum students were doing. It never occurred to me that that’s what they were hearing and that was why they were always off the beat.
What are you tuning into?
To take this beyond drumming, what are you tuning into? Are negative thoughts popping into your head? I’ve worked with teens and adults who are letting anxiety and depression get the better of them. I help them reset their mindset and their rhythm.
Are you listening to the wrong people? Are you making decisions based on fear? How many entrepreneurs and creatives have wasted a ton of time and money chasing bright shiny things or coaches and programs that weren’t what they needed? Plenty!
Yep, I’ve done it. I’ve also jumped into jobs or opportunities that I shouldn’t have. My husband recently came to this realization. Yes, the job he took after a 5-month layoff came at the right time…but it was the wrong job.
Friday will be his last day. He decided to retire early and work part-time. Of course, I’m trying to get him on board at Next Stage Drumming. He can be my CFO and logistics manager (aka roadie). I’ll keep you posted!
Again, when you’re making decisions based on fear and you’re not waiting to hear what God and the Holy Spirit have to say, you may be going down the wrong path. Be true to your gifts and where you need to be in this season of your life. Not sure where that is? Come drum with me and we’ll figure it out.
