When you need to switch things up
When the seasons change, many people feel the need to switch things up. It could be in their business, career, or personal life. Here are some ways to shift without stressing out.
Take a step back
Evaluate what’s working and what’s not. How much is it bothering you and consuming your thoughts? Is it affecting your income, your time, your personal life, your focus, or all of the above? Or maybe it’s a dream that you put on the back burner.
If it’s chipping away at you, then you need to do something about it. You can’t change anything just by talking about it or worrying about it. You have to take some action steps.
Small steps can achieve big results
You can write out the different things you need to do to achieve that goal or make that change and even set a deadline.
Here’s a tip: Pare things down! What do you need to do first? What’s one step you can take?
Take for example, learning to play an instrument or taking up running. You can’t expect to be a pro after just one lesson or one run! It takes time to learn the basics and to prepare.
Ask yourself these 2 questions:
1. What would you gain by making this change or achieving this goal?
- What would happen if you did absolutely nothing?
Doing nothing is actually a decision, by the way. When private coaching or drum therapy clients don’t do their weekly assignments, I have to ask them what’s getting in the way? They may say it’s a time issue but it’s really a mindset issue. If you really want to make a change you will. If you don’t, you’ll make excuses. Just keeping it real.
What’s this got to do with drumming, Dori?
I’m glad you asked! If you read my last newsletter or blogpost, you’d know that drumming (particularly drum therapy) can help boost your mindset which, in turn, can help you boost your business, career, ministry, or life. Yes, I’ve seen it happen with my private clients.
Here’s what one had to say:
“Dori, you gave me my rhythm back! You have given me the tools to push me towards greater success. I am doing much better with the system you have taught me and I’m so proud of what I have accomplished! You are an excellent and very effective coach!” ~ Anita B., Apex, NC
